Rental Requirements

Driver Age: Must be at least 21 years old. (Please review the Underage Drivers conditions for any additional requirements.)

Identification: Valid ID like DNI, Passport or Peruvian Foreign Resident Card.

Driver's License: A valid driver's license issued at least 1 year ago. Foreign digital driver's license are not valid in Peru.

Payment: A valid credit card (not virtual) with a sufficient credit line to cover a hold (guarantee) placed by Avis based on the vehicle model and type.

Rental Agreement: Acceptance of the Booking and Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions found on www.avisperu.com, along with any additional terms for applicable promotions and the corresponding Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions at vehicle pick-up.

Important Note: Due to procedures for handling potential traffic fines, at least one rental day must be charged to your Visa, Mastercard, Diners, American Express, or Discovery credit card.


Use of the Vehicle

The vehicle rental service provided by Avis Peru is exclusively for private use. Its use is prohibited to offer the public transportation service for people or goods, participation in competitions and for driving lessons and/or exams


Guarantee

In order to provide a vehicle to you, Avis Peru will request a temporary authorization on a part of your line of credit available with Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, American Express or Discovery. This authorization works as a guarantee and its release is requested as soon as you return the vehicle in the same conditions in which you rented it.

Important points to remember:

  • Variation of the authorization amount: The authorization amount varies depending on the vehicle you choose, your final destination and other factors specific to your rental; increasing by up to 30%.
  • Warranty release process: Although Avis Peru requests the release of the authorization at the time of returning the vehicle, the bank issuing your credit card is responsible for the final processing. This means it may take a few days (usually 3 business days) for the authorization to be lifted and the funds to appear in your available credit balance again.

Authorized Drivers and Additional Driver

Who can drive?

  • The contract holder customer and his/her spouse.
  • The contract holder customer who owns the card responsible for the contract may assign driving to another person on the contract under his/her responsibility at no cost.
  • Additional declared driver: The contract holder may add additional drivers to the contract at a daily rate of US$ 2.95 or S/. 11.50.

All drivers declared in the contract must present their valid driver's license at the beginning of the rental, which must be at least 1 year old.


Underage Drivers

  • Renters under 21 who meet all other requirements can be added to the rental agreement for an additional fee.
  • This fee is US$23.60 or S/. 92.04 per day (subject to exchange rate fluctuations - please inquire for current rate).
  • The fee applies to both the main driver and any additional drivers between 18 and 20 years old.

Important Note: Avis reserves the right to deny authorization to drive to an underage driver, and reserves the right to deny the rental if the client is less than 21 years old.


Making Online Reservations

  • Book your rental car online at least 1 hour in advance (advance booking times may vary by season).
  • Important Note: Reservations made outside of business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturdays 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) for airport locations may not be guaranteed for immediate pick-up. If you need your vehicle right away, contact your rental location directly to confirm availability.
  • Holiday Season: During major holidays (Easter/Holy Week, National Holidays, Christmas, and New Year), a customer service representative may need to confirm your reservation.
  • Be prepared to provide any additional information requested by the customer service representative.

Vehicle Selection and No-Show Policy

  • Vehicles are quoted, reserved, and managed by car group (e.g., economy, mid-size) and not by specific make, model, or color.
  • Pick up your vehicle at the agreed-upon date, time, and location with the customer service representative, or as you stated at your online reservation.
  • Including your flight number in your reservation helps guarantee vehicle availability in case of delays. However, if your flight arrives and you're not there, your reservation will be considered a "No Show."
  • If you don't show up within 30 minutes of your pick-up time, you may be considered a "No Call/No Show" and your reservation may be cancelled.

Holidays Service Hours

We strive to provide 24/7 assistance! However, during some holidays, our service hours at off-airport locations may be limited.

Off-airport locations will be open only from 08:30 am to 02:00 pm the following dates:

  • Holy Thursday
  • July 28th
  • December 24th
  • December 31st

Off-airport locations will be closed:

  • Good Friday
  • July 29th
  • December 25th
  • January 1st

Please contact us for information about any other holiday service hours for our off-airport locations.

Rates

  • Rates are displayed with Peruvian Tax (IGV 18%); however, the amounts expressed at steps 2 and 3 are not the Final Price, in order to obtain the Final Price (or Rate) you must make a quotation (step 4).
  • The reservations guarantees a rate, otherwise changes may take place without any prior notice.
  • Rates include 260km for free use per day, with a limit of 5,000 kilometers on monthly rentals. Please ask for the additional kilometer rate.
  • At your return, a grace period of 59 minutes is given, provided that these 59 minutes are within the rental location working hours. After that period, you must pay an extra charge for every additional hour. Starting the third hour in excess, a full day of rental must be charged. The whole amount of the hired protections and additional hired products will be charged right from the first extra 60 minutes.
  • Technical bugs in the reservation module are considered as non-compromise errors. Avis Peru reserves the rights to modify or cancel those reservations in case a loss may arise against the renter and/or Avis Peru. Any modification due to a technical bug will be done with the best rate available according to the original reservation to benefit the client.


Airport Fee

The rentals on locations at "Jorge Chávez" Airport are subject to an Airport Fee of 15% according to current regulations of Lima Airport Partners (LAP).


About your Prepaid Reservation

  • Prepayment option: Book at least 2 days before the rental date to activate the prepayment option.
  • Cardholder's name: The name on the reservation must match the name of the credit cardholder used for the prepayment.
  • Method of Payment: Only credit cards are accepted for prepayment. Reservations prepaid with a debit card will be canceled and the amount refunded within the corresponding deadlines.
  • Real-time charge: When you confirm the prepayment, the amount of the reservation will be charged immediately to your credit card.
  • Card change: It is not possible to change the credit card used for the prepayment after confirmation.
  • Currency and exchange rate: Rates on avisperu.com are displayed in soles and US dollars. The charge is made in soles (PEN) by Avis Peru (Chocavento SA). Any currency conversion, if applicable, will be charged by the cardholder's issuing bank. No refunds are applied for exchange rate differences.
  • Participating locations: All Avis Peru locations accept prepaid reservations through avisperu.com. However, Avis Peru reserves the right to temporarily suspend the online payment system for any office or not enable it for a specific vehicle category.
  • Combination with promotions: The prepaid reservation rate cannot be combined with other promotions or benefits.
  • Cancellation due to system error: Avis Peru reserves the right to cancel prepaid reservations that, due to a system error, do not reflect the correct calculation of the vehicle rate or the selected optional products.
  • Recommendation: We recommend that you carefully read the general rental conditions before prepaying your reservation.

Pick up of your Prepaid Reserved Vehicle

To ensure a smooth rental experience, here are the requirements you must meet when picking up your vehicle with a prepaid reservation at Avis Peru:

Documents:

  • Present the same credit card you used to make the prepayment.
  • If you are Peruvian, present your DNI.
  • If you are a foreigner, present your passport or alien's card.
  • Show your valid driver's license.
  • All documents must match the name of the person who made the prepaid reservation.

Guarantee:

  • The guarantee process is the same for prepaid and non-prepaid reservations.
  • Please see the guarantee conditions and the guarantee amount table in the Rental Terms and Conditions.
  • The guarantee will not be available for your use during the rental.
  • If you wish, you can use a second credit card for the guarantee.

Guarantee release:

  • At the end of the rental, we will request the release of the guarantee.
  • The release time will depend on your issuing bank.

Compliance with rental requirements:

  • For security reasons, the reserved vehicle cannot be delivered if you do not meet Avis Peru's rental requirements.
  • If you need to cancel your prepaid reservation, enter your reservation code at avisperu.com.
  • Follow the instructions to cancel the reservation and request a refund.
  • The cancellation conditions for the reservation are available in the "Cancel a Prepaid Reservation" section.

Making changes to Prepaid Reservations

For your convenience, here is a summary of the options for modifying your prepaid reservation at Avis Peru:

  • Before the pick-up date and time: You can make changes to your reservation at avisperu.com.
  • After the pick-up date and time: You must go to an Avis Peru office or contact us via WhatsApp to make any changes.
  • Restrictions: The prepayment method and the name on the reservation cannot be modified.
  • Changes that affect the rate: If your changes modify the total rental price: Pending payments will be paid at the Avis Peru office when you pick up the vehicle. Overpayment refunds will be credited to the same credit card used for the prepayment within 5 business days of returning the vehicle. The processing time may vary depending on the issuing bank. Avis offices cannot issue cash refunds.
  • Availability and rate: The availability of the vehicle and the prepaid daily rate are not guaranteed if you: change the vehicle type, reduce or extend the rental period, change the location, make any modification that affects the vehicle rate.
  • Exceptions: The prepaid daily rate is maintained for changes unrelated to the vehicle rate, such as adding coverage or additional options.
  • Category change: If you decide to upgrade to a higher category when you pick up the vehicle, the current daily rate will apply.
  • Extension of the rental: If you decide to extend the rental after starting the rental and an Avis Peru executive confirms it, the same prepaid daily rate from the website will apply for the additional days.

Canceling your Prepaid Reservation

For your convenience, here is a summary of the options for cancelling your prepaid reservation at Avis Peru:

Cancellation more than 1 day in advance:

  • You can cancel and request a full refund without penalty up to 24 hours before the pick-up date and time of your reservation.
  • To do this, enter your reservation number at avisperu.com and follow the instructions to cancel.
  • A prepayment refund request will be generated, which we will review and process within 5 business days.
  • The refund will be issued to the same credit card used to prepay the reservation.
  • Please note that your issuing bank may take a few additional days to reflect the transaction on your credit card statement.

Cancellation less than 1 day in advance:

  • A cancellation fee of US$ 50 (or its equivalent in soles) will apply if you decide to cancel your reservation less than 24 hours before the pick-up date and time.
  • This fee will also apply if: You do not comply with the Terms and Conditions at the time of picking up the vehicle ot if you do not show up to pick up the vehicle (No Show).

Prepaid Reservation No Show

For your convenience, here is the prepaid reservation tolerance policy at Avis Peru:

  • Tolerance time: You have up to 30 minutes of tolerance to show up to pick up the reserved vehicle.
  • Vehicle availability: After this time, Avis is not responsible for the availability of the vehicle. If the vehicle is not available, you will be offered a similar vehicle or a refund of the reservation amount, according to the terms of the reservation.
  • "No Show" reservation: If you do not show up to pick up the vehicle within the 30-minute tolerance period, your reservation will be considered a "No Show". In this case, the cancellation conditions of the reservation indicated in the "Cancel a Prepaid Reservation" section will apply.
  • Recommendation: We recommend that you arrive with enough time to pick up your vehicle and avoid inconveniences.

Intercity Airport Charge

There's a one-way drop-off fee if you pick up your rental car at a Avis location in Barranco or Miraflores and plan to return it at the Jorge Chávez International Airport. This fee is US$29.5 or S/. 115.05 (the exchange rate may fluctuate, so please inquire about the current rate).


Coverage - General Conditions

You have complete freedom to accept or decline the protections since they are optional; however, if you decline them, you will be responsible for the total value of the rented vehicle. For the protection to be valid it is necessary:

  • Immediately inform the Traffic Police of the accident;
  • Immediately inform Avis;
  • Submit to Avis the Police Report, Alcohol Testing Report and Police Evaluation of Damages

The coverage will not be valid if it is demonstrated:

  • State of intoxication or driving under the influence of a prohibited substance
  • Speeding
  • Collision against fixed objects
  • Violation of the Rental Agreement or any contravention of traffic regulations or Peruvian laws.

Collision Damage Waiver - CDW

By purchasing CDW protection, you reduce your financial liability in case of total theft or damage to the vehicle rented with Avis Peru due to collision in traffic accidents. You will only be responsible for the deductible (US$ 1,200) and CHOCAVENTO S.A. will cover the rest. If you choose to decline CDW protection, you will be responsible for the total cost of the damage up to the limit of the commercial value of the vehicle.


Personal Accidents - PAI

The client, declared drivers and passengers (up to the vehicle's maximum occupancy limit) will be insured for death or permanent disability (according to scale) up to US$ 20,000 and for medical expenses up to US$ 4,000 in case of traffic accidents while occupying the rented vehicle.


Supplemental Liability - SLI

If you or the declared drivers are responsible for damage to third parties while driving the rented vehicle from Avis Peru, CHOCAVENTO S.A. will cover the damage up to US$ 500,000 for Third Party Liability and up to US$ 20,000 for Passenger Liability (up to the vehicle's maximum occupancy limit).


Combo: CDW, Dents, Scratches & Emblems

By purchasing this protection, you receive:

  • CDW coverage for collision or traffic accidents with a deductible of US$ 1,200.
  • 100% protection for damage to the bodywork and/or paintwork of the rented vehicle caused by small bumps and scratches caused by vandalism and/or third-party bad faith.
  • Protection in case of theft of emblems.

This protection does not cover:

  • Collisions, crashes or traffic accidents against static vehicles and/or objects.
  • Damage to the bodywork and paintwork of the vehicle due to negligence or bad faith of the driver.
  • Damage or punctures to tires, breakage or theft of glass, partial thefts, crane or towing expenses outside the limit of Lima Metropolitana.

Super CDW

Super CDW offers you complete protection that goes beyond the Combo CDW, Dents, Scratches and Emblems. By purchasing it, you not only get the benefits of this package, but you also get rid of the deductible in case of damage due to collision or total theft of the rented vehicle. It also protects you in case of theft of accessories, breakage or theft of glass. However, it does not cover damage or punctures to tires or crane or towing expenses outside the limit of Lima Metropolitana.

d) Where is your data stored?

Your information and the avisperu.com website are hosted in a data center in New Jersey, United States. This allows us to:

  • Reduce website loading time.
  • Maximize uptime so you can make reservations quickly.

Some of your personal data may be hosted in data centers of other providers who help us send you promotions, news, and relevant information. By doing so, Avis Peru does not cede ownership of your data and these companies do not have free access to it.

Additional website services, such as email subscription or chat, are managed by independent providers with data centers in different countries.

e) How do we protect your data?

Your data is located in a secure network system, accessible only to a limited number of people with special permissions. Additionally, all information you enter on the website is encrypted using an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate.

All transactions are processed by a payment gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.

f) Do we use 'cookies'?

Yes. "Cookies" are small files that our website or service providers transfer to your device's hard drive through your internet browser (if you allow it). They allow our website or our service providers' systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

Cookies" help us to:

  • Remember the vehicle and options you selected to process your reservation.
  • Track advertising.

g) Can I disable "cookies" in my browser?

Disabling "cookies" will prevent you from making a reservation and may disable other features of the website.

h) Third-party disclosure

We do not sell, transfer, or transfer personally identifiable information that we collect to third parties. This does not include our service providers, such as hosting or those who help us operate the website, manage our business, and serve our users and customers, as long as these providers agree to keep this information confidential.

However, non-identifiable personal information may be provided to third parties for marketing, advertising, and similar purposes.

It is in a continuous process of improvement, so Chocavento S.A. cannot guarantee its inalterability and reserves the right to change it, increase it or eliminate it as it deems convenient.

Chocavento S.A. also reserves the right to review, change and/or cancel reservations that, due to the content or alterations of the same, may incur in a detriment to our clients and/or the company.
